The Foundation under the guidance of its able Advisor Baba Darshan Singh Ji, has embarked on various projects which are expected to benefit the Sikh Panth locally and worldwide. The following are some of the projects currently undertaken by the Foundation
- Yoga Classes
With the apaar kirpa of Dhan Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji, your Niketan Foundation will be commencing yoga classes effective 6th March 2022. This classes will be conducted by our very own renowned Teacher Veer Rajveer Singh Ji.

- Gurmukhi and Gurmat Sangeet classes for Children

- Granth Gur Girarath Kosh
One of the first most comprehensive dictionaries of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji written by Pandit Tara Singh Narotam in the Year 1885 A.D. was converted into soft copy files in Microsoft Word format. The typing of the dictionary which was written in two volumes by the original author has been completed in Feb 2020 and is available to be purchased with a minimum sum of RM100 at the Foundation HQ. We will be uploading it on our website in future. This will be the first soft copy of the dictionary available widely for reference and research by scholars around the world.
- Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Electronic Version)
Each of the shabad guru colour coded to indicate the Bisrams (pauses). Link to the softcopy. This sewa is work in progress and we are now embarking on the sound's module, where the pronunciation of each word can be heard.
- Weekly Suraj Parkash & Sri Guru Granth Sahib Katha
The above kathas which has been ongoing for the past 20years is being conducted every Saturdays from 5.00 pm to7.00 pm at our Headquarters. This sewa is currently being managed by our Parcharaks Veer Sarabjeet Singh , Veer Ravinderjit Singh & Veer Palvinder Singh who had been trained by Baba Darshan Singh Ji.
- Daily Guru Ka Langgar
In line with the objectives of our Patron, we have been serving Daily Langgar at our Headquarters with the support of donors. Approximately 600 packs of Langgar was distributed daily during the lockdowns and we continue to have about 30 people enjoying their meals daily.
- Land At Bukit Beruntung
The Foundation had purchased 4 acres of Land at Bukit Beruntung in 2001.The land is on a hilltop and we are in the midst of working with some parties to see how we could develop the land for passive monthly income for the Foundation.
- The Niketan Gurmat Academy (NGA) Project
In accordance with Niketan objectives, it has embarked on an ambitious project to teach the reading and understanding of Gurbani and other Sikh scriptures in a systematic manner, without any fees. A proper syllabus is being prepared to accommodate students of various levels and age groups. The primary objective of NGA, is to increase the understanding of Gurmat via the understanding of the "Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji", other Sikh literature and Sikh History.
Objectives:
- Teaching of the gurmukhi script from the basic alphabet, and basic grammar.
- Teaching of the Nitnem Banis.
- Teaching of reading and understanding the "Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji".
- Teaching of Sikh Gurmat vide the understanding of Jivan Sakhis of the Sikh Gurus, Bhagats and other Gursikhs as well as other Sikh literature.
Introduction
The project called "Niketan Gurmat Academy" (NGA) is a project by "Yayasan Sant Attar Singh Ji Brahm Vidya Niketan Malaysia (YSAS)" In collaboration with other Panthic organisations around the world.
The project aims to fulfil the religious needs of the international Sikh community residing in various parts of the world. It is hoped that the NGA will help to create a Sikh community which is able to have a basic understanding of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Gurmat and thus be able to practice the Sikh way of life with greater awareness and love.
It also forms part of the Sikh community's effort to inculcate good values in the future generation of youths vide religious education and the Guru's teachings.
Methodology
The NGA is opened for student from age 7 and above. The knowledge will be disseminated vide classroom sessions where students will be streamed according to their reading competency. Among the modules that currently are being taught :-
- Learn Gurmukhi in three (3) months course (for adults)
- Sikh History
- Nitnem Banis
- Reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
- Meanings (Arth) of Gurbani
Niketan will provide the Teachers, Course Text Books, Articles and Classes at no cost to students.
Niketan, invites professionals religious trainers & volunteers from time to time to conduct advance level literature study classes and/or provide training for teachers and students.
Current Enrolment
The NGA currently has three different centres of teaching. Two are located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and one in Calgary, Canada. The total enrolment of students in Malaysia is approximately sixty (60) while in Canada the number is approximately one hundred eighty (180).
